Hoon Mode is an advanced, switchable feature – exclusive to Penta Performance – that is programmed directly into a vehicle’s ECU. It’s designed to work seamlessly with the Cruise Control system—when cruise is active, Hoon Mode is also active, instantly unlocking a range of performance-enhancing options with the flick of a button.
How does it work?
Your vehicle’s ECU is essentially a dedicated computer that manages many different functions. For example, it controls the Turbo Control Valve (TCV) and also handles Cruise Control.
Think of Hoon Mode as an additional function we add to your ECU—like teaching it a new skill. We then link this new function to the controller responsible for activating Cruise Control.
Can you explain further how it does not interfere with the C/C?
Cruise Control (C/C) operates in three different stages:
Disabled Stage: This is the default stage, indicated by the absence of the “CRUISE” light on the dashboard. HOON Mode is disabled in this stage.
Enabled Stage: In this stage, Cruise Control is enabled but not actively engaged. The “CRUISE” light appears on the dashboard. HOON Mode is ACTIVE in this stage.
Engaged Stage: In this stage, Cruise Control is fully engaged and actively controlling vehicle speed. HOON Mode is disabled in this stage.

My vehicle doesn’t have Cruise Control. Can I still use this?
Currently, Hoon Mode requires the Cruise Control system. We’re actively exploring alternatives and will update this page as soon as other solutions are available.
The good news is that many owners have successfully retrofitted the necessary Cruise Control components (such as steering wheel buttons). Depending on your region, you may also need a Volvo software update to enable it.
Does HOON Mod over-ride how C/C works? Does it affect factory safety systems like traction control or ABS?
Not at all. Cruise Control will continue to operate exactly as intended. Its original function remains untouched. HOON Mode simply uses the Cruise Control switch as a trigger. It only activates when the Cruise Control system is on but not actively engaged.
HOON Mode does not disable or interfere with any of your vehicle’s factory safety systems. Features such as traction control, ABS, and stability control will continue to function exactly as designed.
