FAQ:
Do I need to use the recommended Flash Tool, I/O Terminal?
Not really. You can use other devices like a Kess2 or MPPS. The reason we recommend the I/O Terminal is because of its versatility and price. As far as we know, it is the only Flash Tool below US$1000 that can do a FULL Flash of our ECU via the OBD Port. The FULL flash feature is very important as sometimes, people make mistakes and flash a wrong file and such. Having a tool that can rescue a bricked ECU is very important. We have done more than 250 flashes on it and it hasn’t missed a beat.
I have a DiCE unit. Can I use that to flash and log instead?
You can use a DiCE unit to datalog as it doubles as a J2534 Pass-Thru. However, we do not as of this moment, have the software capability to make it conduct a FULL Flash on the ECU. As I mentioned above, this capability is very important to us as we expect everyone to make mistakes therefore we need a hardware/software powerful enough to undo any mistakes. In conclusion, you need to purchase a separate flash tool in order to fulfill the requirement of this course.
What is a “Mod-Ready” Flash File?
When tuning ECUs, it’s necessary to modify more than just the maps provided in your definition file. In fact, a proper tune typically requires around 70-130 map changes. These aren’t included in the definition file because they are either Diagnostic Maps, which are maps that simply need to be disabled, Static Maps, which are maps that need to be changed only once, or Safety Maps, which are put in place to prevent the user from experiencing catastrophic failure.
We choose not to discuss these during the tuning course because we believe it could potentially clutter the learner’s mind and hinder them from absorbing the most crucial information. In fact, some of these maps are included in more advanced courses. By that point, the learner would have gained sufficient understanding and knowledge to utilize them effectively. There’s also the consideration of the additional resources needed to document these maps, which would only serve to increase the price of the course.

How much Power can I expect to get out of the Novice Tuning Course?
In the Novice Course, we have limited the maximum boost to about 1.3 bar for safety reasons. That being said, you should be able to safely produce about 280-300HP, provided you have the necessary hardware to support it. The true advantage of creating a specific tune for your vehicle isn’t solely about peak power, but also about drivability and smoothness. The main goal of custom tuning isn’t just to provide you with impressive peak power; it’s about integrating that power into part-throttle driving, which is where you’ll likely spend most of your time.
I want to run a larger Turbo, like a K16. Will this course provide enough resources for me to do that?
Short Answer, No. Swapping a K16 or larger turbo requires a lot more knowledge and understanding, not to mention extensive datalogging. The Novice course is designed for vehicles with the K04 Turbo, while the Advanced course can handle up to a hybrid K04. We plan to create another tier in the future that can handle the K16 or larger turbo, but for now, our focus is on the Novice and Advanced Courses.
Why do I have to pay extra for Add-ons like Fuel Overrun, 2-Step, etc.?
During our survey and Expression of Interest (EOI), we received multiple pieces of feedback about pricing, inclusions, and expectations. Initially, we wanted to create a one-size-fits-all course. However, it wouldn’t be fair for customers who only want a mild tune to have to purchase the entire course. Therefore, we decided to divide the course into blocks. This way, those who want certain features can select them individually.
How many versions of tunes can I make?
As many as you want! The beauty with the Professional-Grade tools we provide is there is no limit on how many revisions/versions you can do.
