Here are some frequently asked questions.
How long does it take to tune a vehicle?
The time it takes to tune a vehicle really depends on the level of refinement desired. As the saying goes, it’s relatively easy to achieve 80% accuracy. The final 20% is what often requires a significant amount of time. Some people are satisfied after 5 revisions, whereas others, including us, may require over a hundred revisions.
What hardware do I need?
You will need the following hardware:
- An ECU Flash Tool
- J2534 Compatible Tool
The ideal flash tools are those that can flash via the OBD Port, as you will be doing a lot of flashing, and removing the ECU each time would be highly time-consuming. The tool included in our bundle is the I/O Terminal, which, in our experience, is the most powerful and cost-effective among all OBD Flashers. The J2534 tool is needed for the data logger. Alternatively, a DICE can be used instead as this works as a J2534 Pass-thru device.
How long do I have access to the knowledgebase and software?
You will have lifetime access to everything, except for the Penta Datalogger. Because the Datalogger software needs to access our database server, which involves running costs, we are required to charge a subscription fee.
Will I be able to tune any vehicle after this course?
Our course is specifically designed for the P1 Volvo Motronic ME9 ECU, and therefore our software might only work with those. However, most, if not all, Motronic ECUs share a similar structure. Consequently, the knowledge you gain from this course will enable you to apply it when you encounter another variant of the Motronic. In the future, we plan to release specific courses for other Volvo ECUs.
I have no experience in tuning. Will this work for me?
Our course caters to both beginners and experienced tuners. We strive to explain everything in as much detail as possible to assist beginners in taking their first steps. At the end of the course, we provide a tutorial that guides you through the entire tuning process. Furthermore, we offer hands-on support to our customers in case they encounter any difficulties.
